Minter Ellison continues to support the Arts
18 November 2009
Minter Ellison is pleased to continue our long-running support of the New Zealand International Arts Festival as a silver partner for the event to be held between 26 February and 21 March 2010 in the heart of Wellington.
The festival brings the world's best dance, theatre, film, music, literature and visual arts to New Zealand and will showcase the work of 930 artists from 30 countries, including 17 Australasian premieres.
Sound of Silence, the opening night event to be held on 26 February, is proudly sponsored by Minter Ellison Rudd Watts. Set to a soundtrack of music by Simon and Garfunkel, this play without words explores the social utopia of the 60’ in a tale of 14 young Latvians who discover the intricacies of love and life after the cancellation of a Simon and Garfunkel concert.
Latvian director Alvis Hermanis has created Sound of Silence without one word of dialogue and in so doing defines a time when an emerging liberalism in the countries under Soviet domination made it possible to dream. Hermanis was born in Riga, Latvia in 1968 and also works as a director in Germany, Switzerland, and Russia. His productions, including Long Life, Inspector General, Sonia, Sound of Silence, and Fathers have been shown in more than 30 countries, in major theatre festivals in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Canada.
Other corporate supporters of the event include gold partners New Zealand Post Group, TV3, Clemenger BBDO, and Pacific Blue.
