Minter Ellison Rudd Watts NewsMinter Ellison Rudd Watts joint winner of New Zealand Deal of the Year Award Tuesday 18 May 2010 Minter Ellison Rudd Watts was named a joint winner of the New Zealand Deal of the Year, for the 2009 Fisher & Paykel Appliances recapitalisation, at the annual ALB Australasian Law Awards in Sydney last week. The firm was also recognised as joint winner of the Insolvency & Restructuring Deal of the Year, for the ABC Learning Centres receivership deal. The New Zealand Deal of the Year, for the 2009 Fisher & Paykel Appliances, was significant as the largest value restructuring during 2009 in New Zealand. Our cross-functional teams of legal experts including restructuring and insolvency, banking and finance, and corporate and commercial teams acted for a syndicate of banks in the NZ$575 million restructuring/refinancing of Fisher and Paykel, and involved multiple jurisdictions. The annual ALB Australasian Law Awards, held on Thursday 13th May 2010, recognise and celebrate the successes of the Australian and New Zealand legal industry for the previous calendar year. The firm, and members of the wider Minter Ellison Legal Group, have previously been recognised in numerous categories at the annual ALB Awards including Debt Market Deal of The Year, Project Finance Deal of the Year and Innovative Use of Technology Award in 2009.
