Peter is a corporate and commercial lawyer who has been involved in several major corporate acquisitions in New Zealand. He has broad legal expertise including takeovers, flotations, joint ventures, shipping and aviation law, and Maori and Treaty of Waitangi issues.

Peter has been involved in many major corporate acquisitions in New Zealand and has acted as advisor to some of New Zealand's leading corporations and international organisations. He currently acts for the following clients on a day to day basis: The New Zealand Refining Company Limited, TrustPower Limited, Livestock Improvement Corporation Limited, Synlait Limited and AC Neilsen (NZ) Limited.
 
Peter also provides extensive advice on governance and general corporate matters to the boards of numerous NZ and international companies and has acted as a director of a number of companies, including Union Shipping Group Limited, and Coles Myer New Zealand Holdings Limited.

  • Acting for Livestock Improvement Corporation Limited on its first restructuring from a subsidiary of New Zealand Dairy Board to a farmer owned co-operative, and its second restructuring involving the listing of its new Investment Shares on the NZAX
  • Acting for the New Zealand Refining Company Limiteds on its Future Fuels Project, its entry into the first Negotiated Greenhouse Gas Agreement with the Crown, and its co-generation proposals
  • Acting on the flotation and listing of TrustPower Limited
  • Advising Tainui - Waikato on the settlement of their land claim with the Crown, and continuing to act on post-settlement issues and commercial matters including their River Claim
  • Acting for Jasons Travel Media in relation to its rights issue and acquisition of media trading companies
  • Acting for Bancorp New Zealanad Limited in relation to restructuring issues
  • Acting for New Zealand Rowing in relation to the 1020 World Rowing Championships at Karapiro
  • Acting for National Australia Bank in its bid to acquire from Ford Credit Company its Fleetlease business in New Zealand and Australia
  • Advising on the establishment of Regal Salmon including its listing on the NZX and acting as a director of the Company
  • Acting for WEL Networks Limited in its bid to acquire part of the electricity distribution business of UnitedNetworks Limited
  • Acting for Austereo Group Limited in its bid to acquire the radio business of CanWest NZ Radio Holdings Limited
  • Acting for Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited in relation to governance and constitutional issues, including advising on the possibility of Fonterra issuing partly paid shares
